Hooking the Prairies - An Introduction to Rug Hooking12:00PM - 3:00PM
Instructor: Shelly Nicolle-Philips Rug hooking is a simple craft to learn and an accessible way to express creativity. The simple motion of hooking rugs can also be a
relaxing almost meditative practice. Shelly Nicolle-Phillips currently lives in Regina, Saskatchewan but was born and raised in Prince Edward Island. Shelly began rug hooking in 2015, inspired by the many rugs that were hooked by her grandmother and the long tradition of hooking in the Maritimes. Her art is a mix of traditional primitive rug hooking designs and more modern pieces including many landscapes. Shelly loves to teach others how to hook rugs and introduce them to the traditional craft. You can follow her on Facebook and Instagram as Hooked on the Prairies. $80 per person To register for the Workshop please send an etransfer to biggar[email protected] and put the workshop title in the comments.

Metis beading with Bryan Smith
Bryan grew up in the Spiritwood area of Saskatchewan. He started to learn to bead when he was 13 or 14 when his mother was asked to make a number of hat bands for a group of team ropers. He has been making hat bands since and that is kind of his specialty. He have also done other pieces. Mostly as gifts. It is a hobby he still loves to do today as a way of relaxing.
